The Mablethorpe Full and Half Marathon are run under UK Athletics rules and we have held the British Association of Road Races Gold Award for Outstanding Race Management for the last three years. We are known throughout the running community as ‘The Friendly One’ and we try to live up to our reputation, not only during our event but by being there for our family of runners all year round. The balance of professional achievement and our friendly approach make this event a perfect choice for first time marathon runners and elite athletes alike. The Mablethorpe Marathon is consistently praised for the high number marshals and local supporters who turn out to support the runners.
Our course is located in and around the small seaside towns of Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea. Runners exit town and enter the surrounding countryside of the Lincolnshire marshland before accessing the promenade for a run alongside some of the finest Blue Flag beaches in the UK. Because of our geographical location amongst the Lincolnshire marshlands and coastal plain our course is extremely flat with only a few short inclines leading up to the promenade – perfect for achieving a fast time and personal best.
Our event has been used in the past to achieve qualifying times for the Commonwealth Games and we are pleased to have had multiple mentions in the Guinness Book of World Records courtesy of a frequent runner David Smith.
We have been honoured to be chosen by a number of runners to complete their 100 marathon challenge. We always ask runners who intend to run their 100th marathon with us to let us know in plenty of time so that we can arrange your special award from us to mark your achievement.
All runners in the Full and Half Marathon will receive a runners medal and technical T shirt. We run competitions throughout the year for our entrants so please keep in touch by checking this website, signing up to our newsletter (form at the bottom of this page) and following us on social media (links at the bottom of this page).
