Important update as of 22nd August 2017

Published in Event News, Important Information

Important refund update. Status as of 22nd August 2017.

We have begun the process of issuing full refunds to all entrants who entered online for the 2017 events via our payment processing agent. All but a handful of entrants have already been issued with a full refund by the Mablethorpe Marathon Foundation.

Refunds will be credited to the card you used to pay for your entry.

We have been told by our payment process agent to anticipate refunds hitting your accounts within 5-10 working days.

Taking into account weekends and a bank holiday this could be early September – we hope it is considerably quicker than this, but we have absolutely no control over the speed of the refund as it has now left our account and is working its way through the banking system.

We would ask you to check the account you used to pay and contact us at info@mablethorpemarathon.org.uk after the 14th of September if you have not received your refund.

Now that the online entrants have been issued a full refund, we are working to refund those who entered manually & deferrals. We would anticipate a similar timescale for refund and ask you to contact us after the 14th September if your cheque hasn’t arrived at the postal address you used when entering the event.

Finally for this update we want to apologise again for any inconvenience, we want to thank you for the kind words, for your unstinting loyalty to the event and for your ongoing patience with us while we deal with this situation as quickly and smoothly as we can.

Race Cancellation

Published in Event News, Important Information

The Mablethorpe Marathon events are organised by a small team of volunteers. We are very sorry to announce that, due to ill-health of key personnel and circumstances beyond our control, the events scheduled for 1st October 2017 are to be cancelled. This is not a decision that has been taken lightly by the Committee.

In the 11 years that the Mablethorpe events have been operating, we have prided ourselves on offering quality, safe, well organised races. The Committee is not prepared to run a below par event.

We would like to apologise to all runners and supporters. All runners which have already registered will be reimbursed.

We apologise to everyone connected to the events for the inconvenience caused and we regret deeply the effect this may have on runners, local businesses, the local community and the Mablethorpe Town Centre.

We wish to thank everyone that has supported our events over the past 11 years. We will be back and hope to be able to rely on your continued support in the future.

Helen Nicholson, Chair of the Mablethorpe Marathon Committee stated “ We are devastated that the events scheduled for 2017 will not go ahead. We will miss the runners and supporters. The committee felt that it was better to have no event, rather than run a sub-standard event. We really hope that people will support our difficult decision”.

The me&dee Charity Partners

Published in Event News

Me & Dee Chirty RunnersThe Mablethorpe Marathon Foundation is delighted to be working once again with the Maria Hanson Foundation (me&dee). The Maria Hanson Foundation supports people living with a life-limiting condition, arranging holidays for families facing a short and uncertain future together, and for physically and emotionally injured service men and women. These wonderful holidays are in two caravans plus beach huts in Mablethorpe. The charity was formed to create special moments and memories to ensure that both children and adults share distinctive experiences when time is precious. What a wonderful cause!

The Maria Hanson Foundation has supplied all the rucksacks for runners’ goodie bags this year and will also be holding a stall (with a tombola, and selling sweets amongst other things) on the day. Their collection boxes will be out too for you to dispose of your loose change; all for a great cause.

There are 48 people running for me&dee this year. Amongst them will be local Debbie Prince. Debbie ran the first ever Mablethorpe marathon in 2006 and will be doing her last ever marathon this year; the perfect tribute to both the Mablethorpe Marathon and me&dee’s centenary year. Believe it or not, local Gaz Brown will also be running the second half of Debbie’s marathon with a bin weighing 48lb strapped to his back; just one of the many amazing sights you’ll see on the day!

For more information – www.mariahansonfoundation.org.uk

Info: Gaz isn’t a local, he is from the midlands and in case needed, he is ex decorated military and an Daz’s Den charity champion (the two vans are called me&dee’s den for the families and Daz’s Den for the military)

The Friendly One is now a Bigger One!!!

Published in Event News

The Mablethorpe Marathon Foundation is celebrating its 10th Anniversary event on Sunday the 2nd October 2016. In that time we are proud of the achievements we have attained.

We are a community run event, entirely organised, managed and marshalled by volunteers.

We are the only full marathon in Lincolnshire approved by UKA.

We were awarded The BARR Gold Standard for outstanding race management.

Numerous Guinness World Records have been broken on our course for both full and half marathon distances.

We are proud of the many runners who completed their 100th marathon with us.

We are proud of each and every one of the numerous PB’s that our runners have achieved.

We celebrate and applaud each and every runner who battle to cross the full and half marathon finish line – every one a winner in our eyes.

We are proud of our terrific team of volunteer marshals who earned our reputation ‘The Friendly One‘, by their unstinting dedication.

We know that marathon and half marathon runners are a rare breed of hero, many of us will never achieve that sense of elation and pride that you feel when you cross the line and collect your medal.

We can’t give people the ability to run further but we can give people a race that everyone can run or walk but above all enjoy!!

We are hugely excited to announce that in celebration of our 10th anniversary year we will now be adding a 5k event over a short part of our course to give less experienced runners a taste of the excitement.

Registrations for the 5k will officially be open on 1st May 2016 and all details will be published on Facebook, Twitter and our website.

We hope this is a way to extend even further our vast family of friends and supporters.

Please share this with your friends, family, running clubs and park run friends.

Come and join us on 2nd October 2016 for The Mablethorpe Marathon, Half Marathon and 10th anniversary 5k – BE PART OF THE FUN AT THE FRIENDLY ONE!!

The Maria Hanson Foundation to be Mablethorpe Marathon Second Charity Partner

Published in Event News

After a meeting of the two organisations, Mablethorpe Marathon Foundation are pleased to announce that they have secured a second charitable in The Maria Hanson Foundation.

With both organisations going into their 10th anniversary years it promises to be a very special time for us both. It is also a very good fit with our current charity partner the Royal British Legion because The Maria Hanson Foundation operates one charity under the names of Me & Dee and Daz’s Den. They provide holidays for those with life limiting conditions and for physically and emotionally injured service men and women and they have holiday caravans on the Haven Golden Sands holiday centre in Mablethorpe who also are one of our business sponsors.
